During the early part of the 20th Century a remarkable transformation took place among the large body of loosely associated independent classes (ecclesias) of Christians known as the International Bible Students. A fraction of them became Jehovah's Witnesses.
Jehovah's Witnesses, operating under the 20th Century Publishing Corporation model that was fixed for them by their leadership, thrived and expanded, so much so, that today they are among the world's leading international religious bodies. Jehovah's Witnesses are present in over 200 lands, have more missionaries and full-time ministers in the field than any other religion, and operate a publishing machine which creates and distributes more religious literature than any other church or organization in the world -- just to name a few attributes. And yet, unknown to most persons, including many Jehovah's Witnesses, there is a major catastrophe brewing among Jehovah's Witnesses. It is a crisis not just of faith but of destiny.
Jehovah's Witnesses are at a major crossroads in their organizational history. One path taken will result in a massive exit of membership, increased social marginalization and ultimately the fate of becoming just another quaint and quirky insular religious group whose membership is barely sustained by a trickling few family members raised within the faith. The other path is the way of The Revolution.
The aim of the Revolution is the wholesale transformation of today's Jehovah's Witnesses into the largest semi-organized body of International Bible Students in the world.
The Revolution is made possible by the recent convergence of five factors which have led to Jehovah's Witnesses reaching this remarkable and important point in their history. The page linked above discusses these five factors as well as outlines the future of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society and Jehovah's Witnesses.
Why a Revolution?
The most basic question: "Why try to reform the Organization?" is really dealt with throughout this website. Therefore, I will leave it to the visitor to explore the reasons why reformation is necessary on other pages of this website and indeed, elsewhere on the Internet/WWW, and instead concentrate on what I mean by the Revolution and the ways and means by which it may be achieved.
Reform or Revolution?
The term "reform" encompasses change it is true and thus it is not inappropriate to discuss such changes in terms of reform or reforms of the Organization or within Jehovah's Witnesses. However, when we speak of reform with respect to an entity or a religion, it often refers to change which is initiated by the leadership of what is being reformed. Second, even what might be called "major reforms" often leave intact the structural whole or the underlying operational paradigm of the organization. In other words, reform, even if incredibly important, is nothing more than minor change to the organization as a whole structure.
The term "revolution" on the other hand, implies both a sweeping change, a fundamental paradigm shift, and also accounts for the democratic activity of the people or rank and file members of the organization in question. Because I believe that the Revolution of Jehovah's Witnesses will be driven in large part, by internal forces and by the rank and file Jehovah's Witnesses, and because at the conclusion of this Revolution, the Worldwide Association of Jehovah's Witnesses and the Organization will embrace a completely different paradigm - one which remarkably returns them to circumstances very similar to their original pattern as Bible Students - I prefer to use the term "revolution" to describe this change, although from time to time, I may use either term interchangeably.
Is Reform or the Revolution Possible?
The fact is that there have been many attempts at reform within the history of Jehovah's Witnesses by individuals and small groups -- and all of these have either been spectacular failures or led to schisms.
However, because of five important factors, discussed on this page, a real Revolution is not only possible it has already begun.
But something important should not be forgotten by anyone who may doubt whether reform is possible.
First, reform or change has already been a fundamental aspect of the modern-day history of Jehovah's Witnesses since its foundation. The Organization and culture of today's Jehovah's Witnesses does not resemble in the least Russell's Bible Students - and that change did not occur overnight. The entire history of Jehovah's Witnesses has been one of reform after reform, and until our time, these changes were initiated by the leadership of Jehovah's Witnesses. Whether it was Rutherford, Knorr, Franz, Henschel or finally the Governing body, these leaders have overseen changes, unimagined and in some instances even resisted by their predecessors. Thus "officially blessed" reform or changes have been and will be an integral feature of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Second, we must not forget that the theology of Jehovah's Witnesses itself embraces the idea of change. Jehovah's Witnesses themselves believe that their earthly organization is part of "God's Celestial Chariot" which is constantly on the move. This doctrinal teaching has prepared the faithful to expect future changes and softened the blow of the changes when they came. Thus when change occurs, as it must in the Revolution, Jehovah's Witnesses will be ready to cope with them and many will welcome these reforms.
The Promethean Ones are a secret group of active Jehovah's Witnesses, ex-Jehovah's Witnesses, and non-Jehovah's Witnesses, who are dedicated to working for reform, especially by promoting changes from within the Organization. This page discusses the goals and aims of the Promethean Ones further.
This is a list of past and present notable "reformers" and persons who have helped contribute to the Revolution of Jehovah's Witnesses, together with a brief description of their accomplishment or what they are noted for. If you think someone should be on the list that isn't drop me an email.
"Witanclast" what is it? Find out how what is needed is not iconoclasm but witanclast to further the Revolution.

This page presents a number of topics and "codewords" to avoid as well as discussing other circumstances which may lead to either a closed mind or an abrupt ending of the conversation with a Jehovah's Witness.
